this weekend October 17th and 18th 2009 is a special anniversary for not only the kinks but for me too...

" October 17, 1969 – After several months of being mysteriously banned from performing in the US, just as mysteriously the Kinks have received visas again, and they quickly throw together a 17-city US tour to make up for lost time. They begin tonight, the first evening of a two-night stand at the Fillmore East in New York City, where they and the Bonzo Dog Band open for the headline act, Spirit. Rusty and unsure of themselves, the Kinks deliver a less-than-stellar performance, but at least one fan in the audience – 16-year-old Frank Lima from Valley Stream, New York – is transformed for life by his first-ever Kinks show.
